OCA Pittsburgh Lunar New Year Banquet

The Year of the Snake wove its way into the City of Pittsburgh with a Proclamation from Pittsburgh's City Council announcing February 23 as "OCA Year of the Snake Day." Emperor Michael Lin and Empress Jasmine Cho greeted the guests and also posed for complimentary pictures. OCA President Kai Lin opened the festivities by welcoming everybody to the most important holiday celebrated by Asian families. Hosted by celebrity guest Sally Wiggin, the entertainment began with the traditional Lion Dance, and was followed by performances from the OCA Youth Performance Ensemble, led by Chiapih Shaw, VP of Cultural Affairs. The Filipino Association of Pittsburgh presented an array of folk dances with an opportunity for guests to try Tinikling, a traditional bamboo dance of the Philippines. A twelve-course traditional Chinese banquet meal, provided by the Pittsburgh Chinese Restaurant Association, was served. An abundance of silent auction and raffle items were available for guests to bid on with all proceeds benefitting OCA Activities.
